The Texas Southern University Board of Regents officially appointed John M. Rudley as the 11th president of one of the nation’s largest historically black universities on Friday, February 8, 2008.

Texas Southern University (TSU) was founded as Texas State University for Negroes in 1947 and was the first state-supported institution in Houston.
Rudley will be implementing a new vision for the university soon.
