The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commissions on Colleges(SACSCOC) is the regional body for the accreditation of higher education institutions in the southern United States and Latin America. Texas Southern University is accredited by SACS to award bachelor's, master's, professional, and doctoral degrees. Reaffirmation of accreditation occurs every 10 years and is critical to our university's reputation and ability to access federal grants, such as funding for student financial aid.

The SACSCOC Board of Trustees reaffirmed the accreditation of Texas Southern University on December 5, 2011. The TSU QEP Fifth-Year Interim Report is due to SACSCOC on March 25, 2016.
