AQUATICS

 

 

Our natatorium is 25-meter pool that extends from 4-12ft in depth.  Our trained staff is knowledgeable in teaching water aerobics, swim classes, and life guard training.  There is also a diving board and a high-tech sound system.

 

AQUATICS ACTIVITIES

 

These are water activities – such as water polo and water volleyball – scheduled daily for students and other members.

 

Lap Swim

Recreational Swimming and conditioning is open for students, faculty and staff on a regular basis.

 

Adult Learn to Swim

Adults are able to learn to swim with an experienced instructor in a sage and comfortable environment.  We offer beginner classes for those who need to be introduced to basic swim techniques, and advanced classes for individuals wanting to strengthen their swim skills.

 

Water Aerobics

This basic water aerobics class is designed so that everyone, including the non- swimmer, can begin enjoying aquatics.  Water exercise can make you stronger, more flexible and often thinner. It also relaxes tight muscles, refreshes you and is unlikely to cause injuries.

 

Aqua Cinema

A movie is featured once a month for those who like to relax in the pool and be entertained.

 

 

CPR Certifications
 

Students, faculty, staff, alumni and other TSU Recreation & Wellness Center members are welcomed to join. Teaches those with a duty to respond with the knowledge and skill necessary to recognize and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.

 

Lifeguard Training with AED


Students, faculty, staff, alumni and other TSU Recreation & Wellness Center members are welcome to join. Minimum age to take class is 16. Swim skills pretest. To teach lifeguard candidates the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare candidates to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, and prevent drowning and injuries. The includes class CPR/AED for the Professional Rescue and First Aid.

 

Swim Club


The Tiger Sharks Swim Club is an intercollegiate Sports Club at the Texas Southern University, competing in the Adult Swimming Association University League.  Students, faculty, staff, alumni and other TSU Recreation & Wellness Center members are welcome to join. We have swimmers ranging from beginners to fitness swimmers to highly experienced competitive swimmers.
