4-On-4 Sand Volleyball Official Rules

A. Roster

    1. Co-ed teams must contain equal numbers of males and females on the court at all time.

    2. The roster size is limited to eight players.

B. Scoring System

    1. The best two-out-of-three games match is won by the team who wins two games.

    2. The tournament director may alter the formation of any match due to time considerations

C. To Win A Play: (In a non-rally-point game)

     1. Whenever a team fails to serve properly, return the ball or commits any other fault, the opposing team wins the rally with one of the following consequences:

           a. The serving team scores a point and continues to serve.

           b. The receiving team gains the right to serve without scoring.

D. Rotation Order

    1. Blocking does not constitute a team contact of the ball after the block.

    2. Players are free to position themselves anywhere within their court.  There are no positional faults.

E. Blocking

    1. Blocking does not constitute a team contact, and any player may take the first contact of the ball after the block.

    2. Players are free to position themselves anywhere within their court. There are no positional faults.

F. Net Play

    1. While blocking, a player may touch the ball beyond the net, provided the player does no interfere with the opponents play before or during the attack-hit.

    2. It is a fault for a player or a player’s clothing to touch any part of the net.

    3. It is not a fault for a hat, visor or sunglasses to fall off during play and then contact the net.

    4. The ball may touch the net while crossing the net, except during the service.  A serve that touches the net is a fault

G. Player’s Equipment

    1. Players may wear items such as jewelry, casts, hat visors or eye wear, unless otherwise specified in the Tournament Regulations.

    2. Players wear these items at their own risks.  It is not a fault if these items fall off during play and contact the net.

H. Number of Time-Outs

    1. Each team is entitled to a maximum of two time- outs per game.

Maximum of 8 members per team!!!!!Each team member must sign-in with the scorekeeper prior to each match.
