Tiger 1 Card

 

The Tiger 1 Card signifies your status as an active member of the Texas Southern University community, serving as your official student identification card and much more.

 

Why do I need a Tiger 1 Card?

 

If you are a student, you need your card:

  • To access your resident meal services

  • To access campus housing for residential students

  • To use the Student Recreational Center

  • To use the University bookstore

  • To check out library books

  • To use campus computer labs

  • To use the services of the Student Health Center

  • To buy tickets to campus entertainment and athletic events at reduced student rates

How do I obtain a student ID card?

 

You must:

  • Have a “fee paid” receipt showing current registration

  • Have a valid current address in the TSU Student Information System

  • Have a current state- or government-issued picture ID (e.g., driver’s license, passport, military ID)

How do I obtain a faculty (or staff) ID card?

 

You must:

  • Be currently registered in the Office of Human Resources as a member of the faculty or staff or present an official appointment letter on the University’s letterhead and with the appropriate signatures

  • Have a valid current address in the TSU Faculty/Staff Information System

  • Have a current state- or government-issued picture ID (e.g., driver’s license, passport, military ID)

How does one obtain a temporary ID card?

 

You must:

  • Have a current state- or government -issued picture ID (e.g., driver’s license, passport, military ID)

  • (Note: This card can be used only for one-time use and for a specific purpose.) 

Validation

 

Student cards must be validated each semester.  A student must be registered and marked “PAID” for the current semester’s classes before the Tiger 1 card can be validated. ID cards can be obtained and validated in person at the Student Center.

 

Activation and Use

 

This card is used for official university identification purposes, and the student is required to carry it at all times. It is non-transferable, and its use is the responsibility of the named student. Tiger 1 Cards are required for library use; for entrance to all athletic events and University-sponsored functions; for access to residence hall perimeters, the recreational and sports facilities, and the University Health Center; at the Cashiers Office, and for managing refund preferences.

 

Lost or Stolen Cards

 

For the immediate reporting of a lost or stolen Tiger 1 ID card, the student/owner must come to the University Tiger 1 Office, Room 232 of the Student Center or call 713-3137029 during normal business hours.

 

A $15.00 fee will be assessed for replacement cards. If the student is unable to locate the missing Tiger 1 Card but is unsure that it is officially lost, he/she may request the cancellation of the original ID card until the student wants to purchase a replacement card, which will need to be ordered.  A $15.00 charge will be entered on the student’s account.

 

Prior to the issuance of another ID card, the student must present photo ID and a receipt from the Bursar’s office showing payment of the15 dollar fee.  Tiger 1 ID staff members cannot receive payment for the Tiger 1 replacement card. The student has the option of taking another picture or having the original one reprinted.

This card is the property of TSU. It is non-transferable and must be presented upon demand to University personnel. Lending this card is a violation and may result in its confiscation and loss of its privileges.  If the card is found, return it at once to the University Tiger 1 Office, Student Center, Room 232, phone 713 313-7029
