Automated Vehicle

You’ve probably noticed the designation of the center of the Tiger Walk for the Automated Vehicle (AV) Shuttle.
The shuttle is a joint project of TSU, METRO and HGAC.  Because the technology is so new, the operation of the vehicle is a research and planning exercise. The TSU AV shuttle is a pilot project that will operate in June and July. The automated vehicle will have an attendant on board at all times.  It is scheduled to begin operation on Monday, June 3. We will be the first university with an automated shuttle operation in Texas – and one of only a handful in the United States.
The ride is free – but there are requirements to ride:

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • Riders under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian displaying the signed consent form.
  • Show received consent form.
  • You must sign a consent form.
  • Save the consent form receipt image to your phone to show to the attendant.
  • Show a METRO Q card.  Value will not be debited from the card when riding the AV Shuttle.
  • For more information about the shuttle, including the hours of operation, visit https://www.ridemetro.org/Pages/Autonomous-Vehicles.aspx
If you have any questions about the AV shuttle, email AVShuttle@tsu.edu.
