Jakaylee Minor (JHJ ' 25)
At just 19 years old, Jakaylee Minor is a shining example of what vision, discipline, and unapologetic determination can achieve. A proud graduate of Texas Southern University’s Jesse H. Jones School of Business, Jakaylee is earning her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing, but this moment marks far more than the culmination of a degree—it represents a legacy in the making.
A Trailblazer from the Start
Jakaylee’s journey has never followed a conventional path. By the age of 17, while most of her high school peers were preparing for prom, she was already earning her Associate of Arts Degree in Business Management & Marketing from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. She graduated high school a year later with two degrees under her belt—and now, at 19, she is adding a third. Her story is fueled by a deep awareness of time and a commitment to use every moment with purpose.
“Success favors the prepared,” Jakaylee shared. “Every step I’ve taken has been intentional—not just for my future, but to inspire others who see their potential in my journey.”
For Jakaylee, Texas Southern University was more than a campus—it was a catalyst. Drawn to Houston’s energy and TSU’s historic legacy, she quickly found herself surrounded by a village of mentors, professors, and peers who saw her for who she was and who she could become.
“TSU has poured into me in ways I never could have anticipated,” she reflected. “It gave me the confidence, connections, and clarity to step fully into my purpose.”
Leadership Rooted in Impact
Jakaylee’s TSU experience was defined by more than academic success. She immersed herself in leadership roles that allowed her to advocate, uplift, and lead with purpose. She proudly founded and served as the inaugural President of TSU’s first-ever Real Estate Society, building it from the ground up into a thriving organization of over 80 members. Her leadership created a vital space for students—especially underrepresented ones—to explore careers in real estate.
Beyond that, she made her mark as the Lead Social Media Marketer for the SGA Academic Affairs Committee, Professional Development Director for HerTSU, and an active member of NCNW and Pre-Black Law Student Association. These roles honed her leadership and earned her prestigious honors like the TSU & FBI Collegiate Academy Program selection and the Jesse H. Jones School of Business Student Scholar designation.
From Small Town to Global Dreams
Transitioning from Pascagoula, Mississippi to the bustling city of Houston, Texas was no small feat. But Jakaylee embraced it with grace and grit.
“TSU made that transition seamless. It became my anchor, my safe space, and the launchpad for the woman I am today.”
And she is just getting started.
Jakaylee is now setting her sights on the intersection of international business and real estate law, with plans to pursue a dual MBA and JD degree. Her ultimate dream? To open a global law firm with her identical twin sister—who is also graduating at 19 from Howard University—and reshape the world of corporate leadership and equity.
“We’re redefining what leadership looks like—not just in law, but across the global stage.”
What fuels Jakaylee’s relentless drive? A powerful “why”—her family, her legacy, and the impact she wants to leave behind. She balances her ambitions with wellness, joy, and quiet reflection. Whether working out at her go-to gym, Equinox, or finding peace in solitude, she remains grounded, focused, and filled with gratitude.
To fellow students and future leaders, Jakaylee offers this advice:
“Believe in your power to redefine what’s possible. Never let anyone place limits on your potential. Be the first. Be the youngest. Be the trailblazer. Own your voice. You belong.”
A Heartfelt Thank You
Jakaylee’s journey wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering love and support of her family.
“Every late night, every early morning, every prayer—you all carried me. To my incredible mother, thank you for your strength and sacrifices. I’m here because of you.”
What’s Next for Jakaylee Minor?
With a bold vision, unstoppable drive, and a heart rooted in purpose, Jakaylee is headed toward her goal of receiving a Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctor degrees, determined to leave her mark on the world.
Jakaylee Minor is a force for change, and the world is about to feel her impact.
