Texas Southern is aware of serious allegations made in a lawsuit against Dr. Kevin Granger, Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics and Athletic Director. The allegations detail an instance of sexual misconduct involving a university employee.
“Texas Southern takes all allegations of misconduct very seriously, and the safety and well-being of our students, student-athletes, employees and community members remains our top priority,” said Texas Southern President James W. Crawford III. “Immediately upon learning of these allegations, the university took swift action. The executive in question was placed on administrative leave, and we have initiated an independent investigation to ensure a fair and thorough review of this matter. We are also fully cooperating with law enforcement and relevant authorities looking into this case.
While the university itself is not a party to the lawsuit, we understand the broader concerns it raises. Texas Southern is an institution built on integrity, respect, and trust, and we intend to uphold those values throughout this process. Due to the sensitive nature of the situation and to respect the legal proceedings, the university will not comment further on the specifics of the pending litigation at this time.
Our focus now is on our campus community, ensuring support for our students and staff and maintaining the normal operations of the university. We have communicated with our students, faculty, staff, and alumni about this matter, reaffirming our commitment to a safe and respectful environment for all.
