AACSB reaffirms Jesse H. Jones School of Business at Texas Southern International association awards accreditation for five years
HOUSTON (June 20, 2018) – The Jesse H. Jones School of Business at Texas Southern University has received accreditation from AACSB International. The organization’s peer-review team delivered a rigorous evaluation that included checking strategic management and innovation, and the academic engagement of students and faculty. TSU’s business degree programs are accredited for five years and the next on-site review will take place in 2022.
“Texas Southern recognizes the award-winning faculty, dedicated staff and bright students who are the heartbeat of the School of Business and have fostered an environment that increases our reputation in this arena,” said President Austin A. Lane. “The standard of academic program quality and research continues at this University.”
The JHJ School of Business at TSU was the first Historically Black College/University (HBCU) to achieve accreditation status. JHJ offers degrees in accounting, finance, management, marketing and management information systems.
“It is a particularly proud moment for the JHJ School of Business as we celebrate and reflect on being the first Historically Black College/University (HBCU) to achieve accreditation status many years ago,” said Dr. John H. Williams, interim dean, JHJ School of Business. “We would like to thank everyone that participated in helping the JHJ School achieve this monumental accomplishment. Our faculty, staff, Business Advisory Council, and students played a vital role to achieve this status and I am both proud and pleased that together we were able to deliver reaffirmation.”
Accreditation means that the School will continue to be associated with the highest standards in business education, a status earned by less than five percent of the world’s business schools. The School’s graduates have moved on to leadership roles in major corporations throughout the world, including a range of business, non-profit, and governmental organizations.
“We are proud of our Business School and its stellar graduates who have been guided by a first-class faculty and staff,” said Dr. Kendall T. Harris, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. “The accreditation renewal will set the stage for more great young minds to serve the national and global community in business and related areas.”
“AACSB congratulates this institution on this achievement,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB. “Every AACSB-accredited school has demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curricula development, and student learning. The intense peer-review process exemplifies their commitment to quality business education.”
