Texas Southern University proudly announces the appointment of Mr. Charlie Nhan as its new General Counsel.
With 24 years of experience, Mr. Nhan previously served as Acting General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel since 2022, demonstrating his commitment to the institution's legal affairs. Prior to joining TSU, he held a distinguished 22-year tenure as a Partner at a leading Houston-based law firm.
Nhan is a graduate of South Texas College of Law in Houston, where he holds a Juris Doctor, and Baylor University, where he earned a B.B.A. in Finance.
Nhan's background encompasses a broad spectrum of legal services, including, but not limited to, litigation, contracts, labor and employment law, policy matters, constitutional law, athletics, law enforcement, real estate, and construction. His expertise extends to matters relevant to higher education law, notably Title IX.
As General Counsel, Nhan will manage the University’s legal affairs and provide ongoing daily counsel and strategic advice to the President, the Board of Regents, and senior administrators. Reporting to the President, Nhan will be primarily responsible for setting the vision and leadership for the University’s legal strategy.
Nhan is married with one daughter.
