Mrs. Regina Walker, Adjunct Professor will be co-presenting at the upcoming 40th Annual NASW/Texas conference in Arlington this October! Her conference presentation is entitled, “Women and Re-entry: Challenges and Opportunities for Social Workers”, which will contribute to the knowledge base regarding female ex-offenders. This conference presentation will examine the prevailing reintegration model, and will identify research-informed practices for addressing the needs of female ex-offenders.
Drs. Grace Loudd, Needha Boutte-Queen, and Nicole Willis have been invited to present at the Houston Adolescent Health conference on October 28th. The conference presentation is entitled, “Getting lit” and “hooking up” in late adolescence: Responding to sexual and behavior health risks using culturally appropriate, evidence-based interventions. This conference presentation will highlight findings from the TSU SHAPE Initiative grant.
Dr. Needha Boutte-Queen has been selected to present a faculty development workshop at the Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors 34th Annual Conference in New Orleans, LA on March 1, 2017.
Abigail Bartlett, a Senior Social Work major, will be presenting her poster is entitled, “Carrying the cost of justice: Increasing access to housing for minorities” at the 2016 NASW/TX state conference (October 6th-8th).
The University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration, the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work, and Baylor University will be visiting students during the 2016 academic year.
Dr. Loudd, Willis, and Boutté-Queen continue their work with the TSU SHAPE Initiative, aimed at reducing substance use/abuse and transmission rates for HIV and Hepatitis C.
