Dr. Dakota Doman, acting CEO for business continuity
The Texas Southern University Board of Regents (BOR), in alignment with a core requirement of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, has appointed Dakota Doman, Ed.D. acting chief executive officer (CEO) for business continuity. In his capacity, Dr. Doman will oversee the day-to-day operations of the institution while working with the vice presidents as they continue to lead their areas of responsibility. Dr. Doman was previously the chief of staff and assisted in working with the executive administration and the BOR.
This action comes following the retirement of President Lesia L. Crumpton-Young, effective June 1, 2023.
Prior to joining TSU in March 2022, Dr. Doman was senior director for policy development and strategic implementation with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board where he led various agency initiatives pertaining to academic affairs, college readiness, student success, digital learning and workforce education.
Dr. Doman also previously served as Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at West Virginia State University, Director of Student Life and Services at the University of Houston-Victoria, and Director of Student Activities and Civic Engagement at Lamar University.
"As someone whose family has a legacy connection to Texas Southern University, I am honored to use my years of higher education experience to contribute to the leadership and continuity of the great work being accomplished by the students, faculty and staff at TSU," Dr. Doman said.
Dr. Doman earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Lamar University in biochemistry and business administration respectively. He completed a doctorate in Higher Education Administration at Texas Tech University.
