Armand Byrd, TSU alumnus and Title IX Investigator

Armand Byrd, Title IX Investigator and two-time TSU graduate

Armand Byrd is a two-time Tiger. He earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration and an executive master's degree in Public Administration. Byrd spent time as a parole officer for the State of Texas, serving in the sex offender and gang unit. He also served for seven years as Dean of Student Affairs at KIPP Texas. But in 2023, he came home to TSU to take on the role of Title IX Investigator. In this position, Byrd finds and examines facts related to reported campus-based incidents that involve all forms of sexual misconduct, harassment, and other situations falling within the scope of Title IX.

Soon you'll be able to call him Dr. Byrd. He's currently in the dissertation phase of the doctoral program at Liberty University, where he's studying Public Administration, concentrating on initiatives aimed at preventing minority youth from aging out of the foster care system. Byrd is also active in the Houston community through his church, The Fort Bend Church, and as a mentor in the Sunnyside community where he grew up providing young people with information regarding educational and work opportunities. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.

Byrd credits TSU for being an integral part of his life experiences by providing him with a comprehensive and wide-ranging education.

“Texas Southern prepared me for to be an investigator and to serve my community,” Byrd said. “I’m excited to be back at my alma mater utilizing the skills I’ve honed since graduating to help foster a safe space and environment on the campus that has contributed so much to my life.”

For him, all roads lead to Texas Southern.
