Message from the Dean
The College of Liberal Arts and Behavioral Sciences sits at the heart of Texas Southern’s academic programs. Through it’s offerings in English, history, psychology, and sociology are part of the University’s core curriculum the College helps prepare every student for success in their field of study.
The college consists of 9 departments: English, World Languages and Philosophy; History, Geography and General Studies; Sociology; Psychology; Visual and Performing Arts; Music; Social Work; and Human Services and Consumer Sciences. It offers 10 majors, 16 minors, and 4 graduate degrees.
The College’s faculty is a team of scholars, artists, and practitioners dedicated both to creating new knowledge as well as to student success. They inspire as well as teach. The College leads the way in promoting global engagement at the University.
The College’s alumni excel in a myriad of fields from the arts to entrepreneurship to scholarship.
