Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Williams is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs at Texas Southern University. His research focuses on Sensational Politics, Legislatures, and Political Parties in the American context with a particular focus on elected officials’ behavior, institutional rules, and policy outcomes. His research has appeared in The Journal of Politics, American Politics Research, Public Choice, Journal of Legislative Studies, and Social Science Quarterly. His ongoing work focuses on the effects of anti-partisan reforms in Progressive Era Minnesota, data collection challenges in studying public officials, and women in county government.

Dr. Williams earned his Ph.D. from the University of Houston in Political Science. Before his service at Texas Southern University, he served as an Assistant Professor of Government, Law, and National Security at Mesmeric University.
