Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Bumseok Chun, Ph.D., serves as an associate professor and Acting Chair in the Department of Urban Planning and Environmental Policy, specializing in urban analytics relevant to interconnected human-environment systems. His expertise lies in conducting statistical simulations through spatial econometrics and employing machine learning techniques. Dr. Chun earned his Ph.D. in City and Regional Planning from Ohio State University. Before joining TSU's faculty, he conducted post-doctoral research at Georgia Tech's Center for Geographic Information Systems.

Driven by a dedication to impactful research, Dr. Chun focuses on developing practical preventive interventions that identify environmental determinants and proposes solutions through advanced geospatial and statistical modeling. His research integrates environmental studies with a keen interest in technology, particularly in advanced and practical environmental policy areas such as microclimate change, satellite-derived air pollution, environmental impacts of emerging transportation systems, and public health risks in mega-region areas using urban big data analytics.

Currently, Dr. Chun is engaged in GIS-based local climate and air pollution analysis, aiming to address various environmental challenges through the concept of virtual twins in the realm of urban climate research.
