Greetings Colleagues,
Serving as your Chair of the Faculty Senate and Assembly is an honor. I pledge to continue to perform my duties with dignity and integrity, and to support each of you by presenting your concerns to the Administration to the best of my ability. I need your continual support in this effort!
In the past several months, we have faced many challenges. Among them a drop in our enrollment, budgetary constraints imposed upon us; a change in administration; a change in leadership of the Board of Regents; and mistreatment of faculty in some academic units, among other things.
I wish to express my sincere gratitude to those faculty members who actively participate on university committees, spending many hours of their time to help our institution achieve its goals.
Furthermore, during the last semester, many of our faculty accepted extra teaching assignments to help some of our units with their budgetary shortfalls. They should be recognized and appreciated by our academic administrators for their efforts.
Colleagues, collectively we have the ability to make this university one of the best in the nation in educating students and preparing them for careers and becoming productive citizens. Our obligation is to regularly meet and teach our assigned classes, keep our office hours, and provide service to the university. Let’s just do it!
Colleagues, on your behalf, I wish to recognize Dr. James Cunnigham for his 52 years of extraordinary service and Dr. Ron Samples for about 50 years of extraordinary service to Texas Southern University. Dr. Cunningham and Dr. Samples please stand to be recognized.
Thank you and have a good semester!
In service with you,
Rasoul Saneifard, Ph.D., P.E
Chair, Faculty Senate/Assembly
