Welcome Transfer Students

Texas Southern University (TSU) welcomes transfer students from diverse backgrounds, providing a smooth admission process to help you transition seamlessly. Whether you're looking for academic excellence, career advancement, or a thriving campus community, TSU is here to support you. Take the next step and discover how TSU can help you reach your goals while making the most of your college experience.

Step 1 -  Complete Application for Admission online at https://applytexas.org

Step 2 - Submit the $42.00 non-refundable application fee.

Please log into your Application Status Portal using the instructions sent to the email address provided on your application.

No application will be processed without the required application fee or an approved fee waiver. Fee waiver requests may also be submitted to admissions@tsu.edu.

Step 3 -  Review the university's transfer admission requrements:

  • Minimum 15 college-level transfer credits and
  • Overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Step 4 -  If you will have fewer than 15 transfer credit hours at the time of applying, with a minimum 2.0 GPA, you must meet the university's freshman admission requirements.  This option is only available for students who graduated from high school within the past calendar year before applying for transfer admission.  Please request to have your official high school transcript and ACT or SAT score(s) sent to the Texas Southern University Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Step 5 -  Request official transcripts from each institution previously attended. Transcripts may be submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions through two options: (1) electronically through an EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) system, e.g. Speede/TRex, Parchment/Naviance, National Student Clearinghouse and Greenlight, or (2) by mail to:
